Background
La Open Government Week (OGW) is an initiative promoted by the Alliance for Open Government (Open Gov Week ) at a global level that aims to disseminate its principles and practices to create a culture, shared by public administrations and citizens, based on the values of transparency and integrity, civic participation and promotion of fundamental rights, as well as accountability.
Spain has been a member of the Open Government Alliance since 2011, and since then has participated in the organization and celebration of six editions, in which it has revalidated its leadership among the member states of the Alliance in the organization of activities to promote the culture of open government.
Objective
Open Government Week aims to organize events to bring Public Administrations closer to citizens, based on the principles of Open Government: transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration.
Dates
In 2025 the Open Administration Week will be celebrated from 19 to 25 May.
Type of activities
Different types of events will be held, such as:
- Institutional advertising campaign
- Contest/Hackathon
- Debate/colloquium
- Interview
- Exhibition
- Day of open doors
- Launch of virtual content (website, applications, etc.)
- Launch of participatory processes (consultations)
- Round Table
- Presentation of plans
- Seminar/Panel
- Workshop
In Spain, Open Administration Week is coordinated and promoted by the General Directorate of Public Governance, with the collaboration of the Open Government Forum.
