Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness

The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness is the Department of General State Administration responsible for the proposal and execution of government policy in:

• economic and reform measures to improve competitiveness,
• industrial development and small and medium-sized enterprises,
• scientific research, technological development and innovation in all sectors,
• business and enterprise support policy,
• as well as the other competences and powers conferred on it by the legal system.

• Royal Decree 531/2017, of 26 May, which develops the basic organic structure of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness; modifies Royal Decree 424/2016, of 11 November, which establishes the basic organic structure of ministerial departments; and modifies the Statutes of entities of the Department that have the status of their own environment to adapt their name to the provisions of Law 40/2015, of 1 October.
