The State Secretariat for Employment and Social Economy, under the authority of the head of the Department, is responsible for developing the Government ' s policy on employment, labour relations, self-employment, social economy and corporate social responsibility.

The study of the different organizational elements of the Department and the direction and realization of the organizational projects of ministerial scope.
Supervision of the technical-legal foundation of all matters of the Ministry and its public bodies that are submitted to the General Commission of Secretaries of State and Under-Secretaries and of the Council of Ministers for consideration.
Coordination and management of the Department ' s human, financial, technological and material resources.
Reporting of draft standards of other Ministries, coordinating actions within the Ministry and with the other Departments involved in the procedure.
The coordination of the Department’s action abroad, international cooperation, without prejudice to the competences of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and the coordination, through the Technical General Secretariat, of the Departments of Labour, Migration and Social Security abroad, without prejudice to the competence of the Spanish Embassies or Diplomatic Missions abroad and the direct dependence of the holders thereof, with respect to the Head or Head of Diplomatic Mission, as well as the proper coordination with the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
To support the Data Protection Delegate or Delegate of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy in the performance of the functions attributed to them under the legislation in force, providing the necessary resources for the performance of those functions.
