Council of Europe Convention on Access to Public Documents
The Council of Ministers has approved the Agreement providing for the referral to the Cortes Generales of the Council of Europe Convention on Access to Public Documents and authorizing the expression of Spain’s consent to be bound by that Convention.
The Convention on Access to Public Documents (Council of Europe Convention No. 205) was concluded in Tromsø on 18 June 2009. To date, thirteen States have ratified it: (Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Estonia, Finlandia, Hungría, Islandia, Lituania, Moldavia, Montenegro, Noruega, Suecia, Ucrania). Seven other states have signed it: Spain, Belgium, Slovenia, Georgia, North Macedonia, San Marino and Serbia. It entered into force on December 1, 2020. The signing of the Convention by Spain took place on November 23, 2021, with the prior authorization of the Council of Ministers on July 6, 2021.
