This action is initiated and is a continuous action, since the Gypsy population is continuously involved in the elaboration of health equity actions in the Gypsy population, so it is not contemplated to end it.

The progress since the last accountability has been as follows:

Year 2023

  • 26/06/2023 and 14/11/2023: 2 meetings of the Health Group of the State Council of the Gypsy People (CEPG).
  • 27/06/2023: Joint meeting of the Health Group of the State Council of the Gypsy People, the Working Group of Autonomous Communities of Equity in Health and Gypsy Population and the Equi-Sastipen-Rroma Network.
  • Continued support to the EquiSastipen Rroma Network in the organization of seminars and preparation of documents.
  • 18/01/2023: Meeting of the Health Group of the State Council of the Gypsy People.
  • Continued support to the EquiSastipen Rroma Network in the organization of seminars and preparation of documents.
  • Publication of recording and presentations of the promotional webinar Health with Gypsy Population in the local environment

  • 1/12/2022: Webinar on local health promotion interventions in the gypsy population, co-organized with the FEMP, with the collaboration of the CEPG Health Group and the Working Group of CC.AA. of Equity in Health and Gypsy Population
  • 12/09/2022 Meeting of the Health Group of the CEPG for the constitution of the same before the new mandate of the CEPG, as well as elaboration of the work plan.
  • Support to the EquiSastipen Roma Network in the organization of the XXVI Meeting of the Network in October 2022, on Mental Health Training.
  • Co-organization with the FEMP of a webinar on local health promotion interventions in the gypsy population (planned for December 2022), with the collaboration of the CEPG Health Group and the Working Group of CC.AA. of Equity in Health and Gypsy Population.
  • 3/02/2022 Joint meeting of the CEPG Health Group and the Working Group of CC.AA. of Equity in Health and Gypsy Population.
  • Joint work of the CEPG Health Group and the Working Group of CC.AA. of Equity in Health and Gypsy Population to elaborate the Health actions of the Strategy for Equality, Inclusion and Participation of the Gypsy People 2021-2030.
  • Publication of an article in a series of European Health Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, where they have participated in its writing from the Equisastipen Network and the Ministry of Health: How did public Health agencies and services communicate with specific groups during the COVID-19 pandemic? (2022).

Celebration of meetings of the Health Group of the State Council of the Gypsy People (CEPG):

06/23/2021. New online meeting of the Health Group of the State Council of the Gypsy People and the Working Group of CC.AA is scheduled. of Equity in Health and Gypsy Population.

18/03/2021. Joint meeting of the CEPG Health Group and the Working Group of CC.AA. of Equity in Health and Gypsy Population.

03/09/2021. Meeting of the CEPG Health Group.

The objective of these meetings was to identify and prioritize the lines of work to be developed during 2021 by the Ministry of Health and the CC.AA. With the participation of the Gypsy Association Movement.

Dissemination of WHO Recognition to the Equi-Sastipen-Rroma Network with the Nelson Mandela Health Promotion Award in 2020: it has been disseminated through the web of the Ministry of Health.

06/23/2021. Joint meeting of the CEPG Health Group and the CCAA Working Group on Health Equity and Gypsy Population.

  • Holding of a health thematic group meeting within the framework of the CEPG:

09/17/2021. Meeting of the Working Group on Health for the National Strategy for Inclusion, Equality and Participation of the Gypsy Population in Spain (2021-2030).

The objective of both meetings was the participatory elaboration of the strategic health line of the new National Strategy for Inclusion, Equality, and Participation of the Gypsy Population 2021-2030, as well as the advancement of its first Operational Plan (2021-2026). In addition, contributions received via e-mail were collected and taken into account, and previous work on lines of work identified as priorities for 2021 was taken advantage of.

  • Preparation of a questionnaire to municipalities and gypsy associations to know the situation of participation of the Roma population at the local level, and to be able to promote the Priority Intervention for Action-6, dedicated to the promotion of the health of the Roma population in this environment, included in the call for aid to local entities within the framework of the Agreement between the Ministry of Health and FEMP for the empowerment of the Spanish Network of Healthy Cities and the Local Implementation of the Strategy for the Promotion of Health and Prevention of the SNS. The results were presented at the joint meeting of 06/23/2021, identifying this area of action as a priority, which has resulted in a specific line of action for the National Strategy.
  • COVID-19 vaccination communication campaign in the gypsy population, with the participation of the population: with the title “I get vaccinated. I tell you why…”, the Equi-Sastipen Rroma Network, with the collaboration of the Directorate General of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, launched since June a campaign to encourage the Roma population to get vaccinated against COVID. The campaign was carried out with a participatory approach, it is led by gypsy and non-gypsy people who work for the social inclusion of the Gypsy People who explain why vaccination is important and what their reasons for getting vaccinated against COVID-19 are.
  • Participation in a technical day jointly with the coordinator of the CEPG health group. 10/08/2021. Health objectives of the new European Strategy for Equality, Inclusion and Participation of the Gypsy People. Conference on the European Strategy for Equality, Inclusion and Participation of the Gypsy People: Good practices and new opportunities (Barcelona).
  • Participation of the Equi-Sastipen-Rroma Network in a meeting coordinated by the Ministry of Health, FEMP and Generalitat Valenciana, within the framework of the School of Public Health of Menorca,: 24-09-2021. Presentation by J.A.J., coordinator of the CEPG Health Group, of the experience of the Equi-Sastipen-Rroma Network in the community confrontation against the COVID-19 pandemic, during the meeting “En-Red-Ando: participatory local governance. What we have learned in a pandemic and we want to preserve.”
