From the General Directorate of Transparency of the Canary Islands Government, a coordination work was carried out where meetings were held with the institutional representatives of the Canary Islands Public Administrations for the design and planning of the Canary Open Government Network, defining its interadministrative value and the scope of action.
The agents detected, the result of this previous work, were:
Cabildos de La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
The Canary Institute of Public Administration (ICAP).
The Directorate-General for Research and Coordination of Sustainable Development of the Canary Islands Government.
The Canary Federation of Municipalities (FECAM).
In these meetings, the main objectives in the field of open government are transferred, which are as follows:
- To act as a transversal axis of the Canary Islands Agenda for Sustainable Development (ACDS), for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 16 and 17.
- Normalize the action of open government in all public administrations, through inter-administrative collaboration, which will allow, in citizen participation, the promotion, strengthening and improvement, from the public institutions of the Canary Islands, of the quality of participation in public management, enabling citizens to be part of public decision-making, with the aim of achieving better results and a higher democratic quality.
- To be a meeting point between the agencies of the Public Administration of the Canary Islands, in order to facilitate collaboration, the exchange of experiences and coordination between those responsible for the administrations.
- To sensitize and train people working in the Public Administration in matters of open government.
