Information is provided on the Transparency Information Units of the General State Administration.
These are specialised units for the administrative management of the right of access and active publicity.
It is convenient to see the following page of recommendations for making a request for public information before contacting ITUs.
They are regulated in article 21 of Law 19/2013, of 9 December, on transparency, access to public information and good governance.
Article 21. Information units
- The Public Administrations included in the scope of application of this title shall establish systems to integrate the management of citizens' requests for information into the functioning of their internal organisation.
- Within the scope of the General State Administration, there will be specialised units with the following functions:
- Collect and disseminate the information referred to in Chapter II of Title I of this Law.
- Receive and process requests for access to information.
- Carry out the necessary internal procedures to provide access to the requested information.
- Follow up and control the correct processing of requests for access to information.
- Keep a record of requests for access to information.
- Ensure the availability of the most frequently requested information on the respective website or e-Office.
- Maintain an up-to-date content map identifying the different types of information held by the body.
- All those necessary to ensure the correct application of the provisions of this Law.
- All other entities within the scope of this Title shall clearly identify the body competent to deal with requests for access.
